Located on Park Avenue, Americas Society's elegant mansion is available for rental for weddings, private parties, corporate functions, fundraisers and any other special occasions. This historic building was originally the home of the prominent New York financier Percy Rivington Pyne until 1946. After that it served as the Soviet Mission to the United Nations until 1965 when the Marquesa de Cuevas purchased it to save it from demolition and later donated it to the Americas Society. Designed in 1909 and fully restored in 1966, the mansion features original architecture and sophisticated interior.
Upon entrance your guests will be impressed with the beautiful marble foyer and the grand, sweeping staircase, leading to the second floor. Along with its adjacent dining room, the Salon Simón Bolivar is perfect for cocktail parties, sit-down dinners and wedding ceremonies. Both feature magnificent 15-foot-high medallioned ceilings, inset with original oil paintings, custom loomed rugs, crystal chandeliers and sconces, antique gilt-frame mirrors, and 10 ft windows, adorned by luxurious French silk fabric walls and draperies. All the rooms have their original wide plank wood flooring, rich Italian marble base molding and magnificent marble fireplaces. A Steinway baby grand piano is available for your affair at no additional cost.
Next to the Salon is the cozy and intimate wood-paneled Mexican Room, complete with antique furniture, decorative items, its original black and cream marble fireplace, and a vaulted ceiling. This space offers quiet and comfortable setting for conversations during your event, or for serving cocktails, coffee and dessert. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a double oven six-burner range with a griddle and salamander, double sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, full-size freezer, eight-rack heated proofer and ample counter space. The Americas Society will be happy to provide you with a list of experienced caterers, or invites you to bring in your own. The mansion can accommodate up to 120 guests for seated dinners with space for music and dancing, and around 200 for cocktail receptions. The site fee is for eight hours, day or night.
