Holtsville, located in Suffolk County on Long Island, was once a very small farming community. Today, with the onset of the Long Island Railroad and access to major roads and highways, Holtsville gives home to several prominent attractions, including the main campus of the Suffolk County Community College and the Harold H. Malkmes Wildlife Education and Ecology Center, a public zoo and ecological park located on the site of a former landfill.
