Childhood home of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, East Meadow was originally known for its wide pastures and useful farmlands. Today, East Meadow is still thriving. Recently it was designated as the third largest New York School District, and is home to a prominent 9/11 Memorial. It also features the well-known Nassau University Medical Center and Eisenhower Park, which includes "Safety Town" (a hands on attraction meant to teach children about safety issues).
