We were hunting for a venue that could host a small private party, but we didn’t want to go to a restaurant. We were looking for something extra special, and we found it in Macari! I was so thrilled when my husband thought of it. A vineyard and a tasting, what a perfect idea! When we went on the tour, they showed us all the different areas they have. They have different rooms for different party sizes. They still let us choose between them, but we picked the smaller Reserve Room, which was cozy. It has pretty chandeliers and beautiful tables and chairs. The wine obviously was incredible! We enjoyed it so much we’re thinking of actually just signing up for the wine club. It looks like a great deal. You get complimentary tastings and discounts on bottles and stuff. And the next time we have an event, we’d get a discount on that too. Really nice place!
We had always dreamed of visiting Long Island and seeing wine country. We are both major wine connoisseurs, and we’ve enjoyed bottles from the region. We originally were planning on just having our honeymoon in wine country, but we thought, “why not just do the whole wedding there?” Most of our family lives in the New York-New Jersey area, and it wouldn’t be too out of the way. We live a few more hours out of the way, but not so far we couldn’t make at least a couple of trips, one to plan and one for our wedding. We spent a lot of time online looking at vineyards and exploring the area virtually before we narrowed it down to several candidates. We called them up and immediately wrote one of them off our list for rudeness. That left two to visit. It was a pretty tough decision, but we went with Macari. The banquet area was just so beautiful—the whole building is wood, and has a very rustic feel to it which we really liked—and there were so many spots in the vineyards we could imagine taking photos. We did a wine tasting while we were at it, and it was incredible! That actually decided us. We sat down and did some planning and headed home. The rest was done over the phone. We weren’t too picky; it’s not easy planning a wedding in elaborate detail when you can’t be there in person to take care of everything. They were incredible though through the entire thing, and someone was always there to answer our questions. The day of the wedding we were blessed with perfect weather. Blue skies, puffy white clouds, perfect temperatures. Everything was amazing. The buffet was delicious, the wine of course was absolutely fabulous, and the ceremony was beautiful. I think some of our guests were as thrilled to be there as we were—everyone was really enjoying the wines and the beautiful views. We took photographs in all those places we’d imagined, and the whole day was like a dream come true. It was exactly the life highlight we hoped it would be, and we will always remember our wonderful day at Macari!
