Prospect Park Boathouse & Picnic House
Located in the heart of Brooklyn, the beautiful 585-acre Prospect Park was built in the 1860s. Designed by landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the park is home to the 90-acre Long Meadow, the 60-acre Lake, the Prospect Park Zoo and Brooklyn's only forest. Over 8 million people visit the park each year and enjoy its unique natural and geological features, rolling meadows and shaded hillsides.

Prospect Park has provided magnificent settings for weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, family reunions and corporate functions for over a century. The two locations for receptions are the Boathouse and the Picnic House, each offering its own charm, elegance and spectacular views. Both feature modern amenities and have ceremony capability.

Overlooking the beautiful Lullwater and Lullwater Bridge, the Boathouse was built in 1905 and was one of the first structures in New York City to be declared a landmark. Completely renovated in 2002, this historic Beaux Arts style building has two levels and a balcony. The Boathouse is available for rental for any type of special occasion after it closes to the public (5pm). Additionally, they also offer a ceremony-only option on weekend mornings. It can accommodate up to 110 people for dinner and dancing indoors, 200 for cocktail parties, and 300 with optional tenting outside. Included in your package are the following amenities: 10 decorative tables, 35 café chairs and 40 white wood garden chairs; guest parking; the services of a house manager. The exclusive caterer at the Boathouse is the Movable Feast. They have successfully planned and organized numerous events, and will be glad to assist you in creating the fairy-tale wedding you always dreamed of.

Alongside the beautiful, historic Long Meadow, behind Litchfield Villa and across the Park Drive is the Picnic House - a 4,000-square-foot brick and glass enclosed pavilion with a terra-cotta tile roof, originally built in 1927. It boasts a raised stage, a working wood fireplace and piano. Its rear balcony features French doors, which create a charming focal point for a ceremony. Provided are 20 60" round tables and 175 white wood garden chairs. Catering is not included in their fee and is limited to a few select vendors. The Picnic House has been the scene of some of New York's most spectacular weddings. Its natural setting and breathtaking views make it the perfect setting for any special occasion. The Picnic House can accommodate up to 175 guests for dinner and dancing, and up to 250 for a cocktail reception.

Prospect Park offers a unique and incredibly beautiful setting for your once in a lifetime affair, customized to reflect your own personality, taste and individual preferences. Both the Boathouse and the Picnic House provide romantic and sophisticated atmosphere for your special day and help create a truly memorable event for you and your guests.
