The oldest restaurant on Long Island's North Shore has been fully restored to its original glory. Built in 1789, the Maine Maid Inn was once home to Valentine and Abigail Hicks, the founders of Jericho, NY. In 1837 Valentine Hicks was elected President of the Long Island Railroad - the Hicksville station was named in his honor. Turned into a restaurant and catering hall in the 1940s, nowadays the inn is owned and operated by restaurateurs Rajiv and Payal Sharma, owners of the Huntington Indian restaurant Sitar for a decade.
Upon entrance you see the grand staircase, leading to the second floor. When you open the linen closet door, you'll discover the portal to the famous "Underground Railroad". The bar and hall feature wide plank floors which are original. The well manicured grounds offer a beautiful setting for a romantic outdoor ceremony. The Carriage Room, leading to an outdoor terrace, is adorned by a beautiful fireplace and original paintings, and has a capacity of 50 people. The main dining room features a spacious dance floor and soft earth tone colors. The Tiffany Room Restaurant opens onto an outdoor patio and gardens, and can accommodate up to 70 guests.
