This is quite a fabulous restaurant if you’re looking for somewhere you can host a private party. I have actually been here twice, so I can comment on the changes they’ve made over the past few years. The venue was always quite lovely, but it really has gone to a whole new level since they renovated. Everything has been modernized. The whole look and feel is better, and there’s less of a retro vibe in here. The best thing about Molly Malone’s though is the food, and that hasn’t changed! The food here has always been fabulous, and it’s remained fabulous. Putting together a party menu is easy; they give you some choices and you make your picks. The chef is great and will change things if you have special instructions or requests. It was the best choice we could have picked for our party, especially since we needed somewhere to eat on our way back from Fire Island, and it’s basically right there next to the ferry. Service is excellent. This is as good as it gets.

This place has done a lovely job renovating since Sandy. We loved it before Sandy, and love it even more now. It’s amazing they managed to get things back to normal so quickly, and actually it’s better here than ever both in terms of the atmosphere and the food. We chose to come here with our small wedding party after the ceremony. We wanted to just have a nice low-key meal with friends and family and avoid any craziness. They made it really easy to plan the meal. You get to choose a couple of appetizers (you could pick anything and win; we went with a couple of seafood options), salad, main dish (choice of four; we went with a pasta, beef, chicken, and seafood option), and vegetable side. They make the tastiest halibut you’re going to have. One thing you should know about this place if you haven’t been here before is that the location is both great and … not so great. It’s beautiful right up against the water, but depending on the time of day and time of the year you show up, it can be very cold. We were here on a sunny afternoon, so it was fine, but we have eaten here sometimes and been quite chilly. So that’s something to think about before you reserve a date and a time. Also the parking. The Fire Island ferry departs nearby, so the parking around here can fill up fast. Make plans for that too. You really can’t go wrong here though. They are lovely people who will do whatever it takes to make sure that you are happy and enjoy a wonderful meal on your special day. We did the right thing coming here! The food was amazing as always, and our guests enjoyed every bite as much as we did.
