When we told our families we were thinking of getting married on a boat, they tried to talk us out of it. I guess my aunt and uncle did that and they had a really bad experience or something. We looked at other options, but none of them were what we wanted, and we just couldn’t let go of the boat idea, even though everyone kept warning us it’d be frozen food and outmoded décor and no space for our guests. We searched around though and ended up touring about half a dozen vessels before we finally found one that was big enough for our wedding party, and which had the look and feel we were going for. Moon Chaser is a very nice boat and you really won’t believe how big it is! There was room to spare after everyone in our party got on board. They told me that they can have a couple hundred people on here, no problem. So that was that problem solved. They also assured us that the food served on board would also be prepared on board, and it would be fresh. As to the furnishing and décor, well we had to spruce the place up a lot, liven it with some color, but once we did that, it looked very nice. Most of the color came fro our flowers and the place setting. Otherwise there wasn’t a whole lot of space to go wild with decorations, but that was okay. It’s hard to beat the ocean out the window for a decoration! Not to mention the incredible views of Long Island. As to the food, which had been worrying my family so much, it was actually awesome. They had a lot of different options available on the menu, which surprised me, since I figured we’d have less to choose from with a wedding at sea. We enjoyed everything we tried during the reception, and my mom and my aunt and uncle couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was! My aunt in particular just kept saying over and over again how much she wished that she’d gotten married on this boat, not the one she did take all those years ago! So if you are about to talk yourself out of getting married at sea, don’t! Yeah, a lot of the other boats we looked at didn’t look that great, but the Moon Chaser is really wonderful, and it will make you wonder why all charter boats can’t be like this. The crew is really kind and professional, and they are here to make sure that you and your guests are happy. The food is great, and when you set up your décor, the boat really looks beautiful. And again, there is nothing to beat the views! We are so thankful to everyone on the boat who made our wedding cruise a success!
We spend a lot of time at Captree park, and we’d seen the signs for Moon Chaser a lot. We were always interested in going out on a sail with them, but we never actually did it until we got married! We were trying to think what we could do for the party that would be cool and maybe a bit different, and then we thought of the sail we always wanted to go on but never did. What would better qualify as a special occasion than our wedding? It seemed like the perfect time to do it, so we made a reservation. She’s a beautiful vessel and surprisingly spacious. We were amazed how many people we were able to bring onboard without it feeling cramped! Seriously, we had over 200 people in our wedding party. We are lucky we called them at all, because we thought that more than 200 would probably be way too many for any boat … but we were wrong! Everyone had space to walk and relax, and it was really quite something. The seating arrangements, furniture and décor were all beautiful in the enclosed deck area. The sun deck was lovely too, and the breeze was perfect that day. We love the Captree area, but we never saw it like this before! The views were amazing, and it was great having so many beautiful backdrops for our wedding photos. The sunset was astonishing, and made for a perfect romantic finale to the event. We had a wonderful time on the cruise, and are so happy we went with this idea after all. Even if you have a pretty large wedding party, check into it. You will be amazed by how much room there is on that boat! And these people will go out of their way to make sure that you and all of your guests are having the time of your lives!
