O'Connell Gardens Reviews

This was such a good experience!!!!! At first we were actually planning to have our reception at our house. That would have been special, and we thought at first that it would have been easier, but it didn’t take long for us to figure out that wasn’t remotely true! We argued for hours one night about how many people we could fit into our living room without moving the furniture, and then there seemed like there were about a thousand chores to do. It got to the point where we realized we would have to hire professional cleaners to get everything looking nice. In short, it was a nightmare. I’m actually convinced that we ended up spending less money by going to the catering hall than we would have spent if we had tried to go through with the home reception idea. The catering hall package already came with everything in it. We didn’t have to worry about cleaning, organizing space, decorating, or anything else that we would have had to do at home. They literally took care of every aspect. If we had stayed at home, it would have been up to us to take care of the linens, rent extra furniture, and so on, and we would have had nothing in the way of entertainment. We would’ve had to pay a caterer to come out and serve us food too. Our hostess and maitre d’ took care of everything here! Our planner helped us choose linens, and they had everything really amazingly decorated. The banquet hall had these really cool wicker chairs for us and for the guest of honor, beautiful chandeliers, amazing mood lighting, and they even have these cool waterfalls where you can take pictures. They also handled all the little transportation details like the direction cards and the parking. Which was free, btw. That was soooo helpful. That would have been another big problem at home. We would have had nowhere to line up all those cars. They put us in touch with a limo company, a DJ, and even hooked us up with our photographer. They have a couple different halls you can choose from. One of them is smaller and more intimate, and it would have been really nice if we had a small party, but we went with the grand ballroom. It was gorgeous and even with everyone we invited there was extra space, so even for 250+ people you could fit everyone here. It was really elegant and with all the mood lighting, it just took on this amazing ambiance. Basically, what I now know would have been an absolute nightmare of a mess to do at home was so much easier and better at the banquet hall! And you know what, it felt just as special as a celebration at home, because all the people who are important to us were able to be there. And truth is, I don’t know if we really could have fit all those people in our house or not. That would have been a shame if it didn’t work out, and I can’t even think how many other things could easily have gone wrong! O’Connell Gardens is in short amazing. They saved us from making a million mistakes, I am certain. And best of all, that made it possible for us to actually look forward to our wedding and not dread messing up some little detail on the way there and ruining the whole thing. The stress of trying to plan on our own was seriously driving us crazy. When we went to O’Connell Gardens and started talking to their team, I swear that stress just evaporated into thin air like it never existed in the first place. It was like a literal weight had been removed from my shoulders or something. I just remember being so relieved that someone was there to help us out. They did a tremendously incredible job with everything, and our wedding was beautiful!!!!!

We had such a great time at O’Connell Gardens! We picked it pretty much on a whim. I admit it, we didn’t do a whole lot of research. We just wanted to keep our wedding as stress-free as possible. Our family actually had to talk us out of eloping! I’m so glad we didn’t though. It was so much fun going all out and having a big party! And it was super easy, because they took care of everything at the venue. The package is really reasonably priced. I think it was $100 per person, and we had around 100 people. That came with food for everyone, an open bar, a DJ, and even a limousine! They put flowers on all the tables for us, so we didn’t even have to bother with a florist. That was soooo nice!!! The arrangements were super pretty, and it really was a big stress relief having that taken care of, because I had heard so many horror stories of wedding flowers not coming out right! You have to have those ready like the day before, so if the florist messes it up, too bad! I’m glad we just left it in their hands so that they could get it right for us. They do these celebrations all the time, and they know what they’re doing. Food! Gotta talk about the food! The cocktail hour was super fun, they let us choose three dishes, and they were great! The bar was open the whole time, and they also had salad. For dinner there was more salad and we got to choose several entrees with sides of potatoes and veggies. The food was awesome (these people make some amazing fish), and the cake was incredible! In terms of ambiance, I will be completely honest … it’s not the most posh place you’re going to find. The dance floor and the banquet tables are pretty standard, and the chandeliers are pretty small. Lighting and décor are basic. I imagine you could spruce the place up if you wanted, but it was plenty good for us. Like I said, we weren’t really all that keen on planning a big party anyway. It was something our family talked us into. And for the cost, you are not going to find a better deal anywhere. Add to that that John and his whole staff are just terrific, and you have a lot of great reasons to choose this place. We are very happy with our experience, and we would recommend this place to anyone for a wedding or whatever party!

We remembered having a wonderful time at a party here a long time ago—five or six years I think it was. We came in to talk to them about our event, and were delighted to find out that the same chef who was working there then is still working here now. The food was amazing the first time, so we were thrilled to work with him on the perfect menu for our event. We were as blown away by his enthusiasm and his readiness to make changes and offer up great ideas as are by his amazing cuisine! He answered what seemed like dozens of questions along the way. Since we had a smaller party, it was in a different room than the one we remembered, but we loved it. It’s called the Starlite Room, and it is absolutely beautiful with wood floors, mirrors on the walls, and lovely décor. An amazing time here once again, and even better of course since it was our big day!

We had an intimate event at the Starlite Room. It was elegant and very cozy. The paneling with the mirrors was beautiful; we just loved the décor! John did a wonderful job with the menu. We especially enjoyed beef brisket. It was so tender and amazingly flavorful! Dessert was also very good; everybody enjoyed the chocolate fondue.

What a pleasure it was to work with John for our event. He was so accommodating and attentive to all of our requests, and the dining was some of the best I can remember in quite some time--certainly the best catering I ever can recall! We will come back here, and will be telling all our friends to head here for their events!

John serves up one heck of an amazing feast! The seafood was to-die-for ... I couldn't believe how delicious it was. It's as good as any fine dining restaurant I've ever eaten at. The banquet hall was lovely and had plenty of space for all our guests, and we had a pretty big party there. I didn't see a single person who wasn't having an awesome time all evening, and everyone's been writing me ever since to tell us what a great choice we made picking the Gardens.
