Oheka Castle Reviews

Having our wedding here was not up for debate once I found out about the place! Actually, hubby wouldn’t have even thought to argue about it. I am pretty sure he was every bit as thrilled as I was with it! I actually can’t imagine why anyone would choose *not* to get married here. None of the other venues in the area even compare! How can you beat getting married in a *castle*? And on top of that it’s a hotel!!! You can stay here! There are a bunch of luxury rooms, and since they only do one event here at a time, you can book them all and have the entire castle to yourselves to celebrate! How cool is that? They’ve got everything here you can imagine, even a golf course. The golf course, like the hotel, is just there for you and your wedding party.
Another really exciting thing about this castle is that it actually is kind of historical. Obviously it’s not an authentic European castle, being in America after all, but it’s not like it’s a modern gimmick either! It was built around a century ago, and apparently it was the second largest private residence in the country when they put it up. Lots of famous people have stayed here, Hollywood stars and the like. Ever see the movie Citizen Kane? They used the castle for some of the filming!
The castle is built in the French style, and looks like it came right out of the pages of a fantasy novel. There are elaborate, elegant gardens throughout the property, beautifully cultivated. The hotel rooms are just as exciting as the rest of the property. There’s no moment of disenchantment where you step back into the “real world” when you step into your hotel room. They have all the modern amenities, but the rooms still look like something out of a period film! They are just gorgeous!
As far as where your wedding party is hosted, they have literally a ton of different options with different capacities, including a number of outdoor areas which are simply breathtaking. We fell in love with the formal gardens and chose to go between there and one of the ballrooms. The sit-down dinner was an incredible experience, and the music and dancing during the party was so much fun! Getting married here is expensive, but a whole lot was included in the package – the bridal suite, the wedding cake, etc. They don’t hold back on anything, they really go to the max for you. Gary, the owner, was incredible. We could tell he’s an extremely busy guy, and yet he always found time for us. We got married in a castle, and treated like royalty.
Everything was breathtaking, and I really did feel like Cinderella here. When it was time to go home, it felt like my coach had just turned back into a pumpkin. It was months ago, and I still look back on it every day and miss the special day we were like a prince and princess. I really really hope I can talk my best friend into doing her wedding here just we can go back! I do think you can come to the restaurant here just to eat dinner too, so maybe we’ll do that for our anniversary. That would be so special!
