Shinn Estate Vineyards and Farmhouse
Wine complements a wedding like the groom complements the bride. At Shinn, the 50 years of experience from Barbara Shinn and David Page can make your wedding day the event of the year. Your wedding can be held under a tent for groups over 40 and smaller party settings can be held inside in private areas, the tasting room, barrel cellar or the winery. Chef David Page will guide the caterer that you choose to bring on board. The Shinn does not provide this service, but they do accommodate up to 70 guests for an outdoor reception and meal.
On the weekends outdoor events can be held at the vineyards once, the tasting room closes. After 5 pm, you and your significant other or your girlfriends can gaze at the stars, feel the nice breeze, and sip on the fine wine that Shinn Estate Vineyards have to offer. You can of course take the wine home with you and Shinn’s fine wine selection can be found throughout a variety of New York restaurants, wine and liquor stores. Long after you leave Shinn, the wine can still be a part of your life. Your stay at Shinn Estate Vineyards can be one of great taste and great beauty.
Shinn Estate Vineyards have a history of fine wine with rich experience. Enjoy a glass of their best and let the wine take you on a flavor journey.

When we moved to Long Island together a year and a half ago, one of the things we were most excited about was touring the vineyards. We had heard so much about LI’s wine country, and we’d even had a few bottles that came from local vineyards. We are both crazy about fine wines, so moving to LI was right up our alley. We were only settled in for about a month when we started touring North Fork. One of the first vineyards we stopped at was this one. It’s a very beautiful place. The first time we were here, there were all kinds of flowers in bloom, and a lot more to see than just the vines, but that of course was very cool as well! I don’t think it’s a very old vineyard, not a historical one. But it’s lovely all the same, and they use organic techniques for everything they do here. We’re both really into eco-friendly stuff, so we thought that was amazing. That was probably why we decided that this would be where we’d have our wedding. A vineyard seemed like the best choice from day one. But an eco-friendly vineyard made the most sense for our eco-friendly wedding. We did everything we could with our planning to try and keep our ecological footprint down. We went with local flowers from a local florist, and we used a lot of up-cycled materials in our décor. Even my bridal gown used sustainable materials. We wanted our venue to reflect that same philosophy, and Shinn Estate does. Another nice thing about this vineyard is that you can stay here in the farmhouse! It’s an inn with a very classic design. If we didn’t know better, we’d have assumed that the vineyard is a lot older than it really is in part because of this. The rooms are very simple, but we like simple and minimalist, so this was something else we really enjoyed about getting married here and staying here to celebrate. The bed was very comfortable, and I can’t say enough in praise of the amazing service! The venue staff was amazing both with our wedding itself and with our stay. A review of Shinn Estate wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the wines of course. Which ones are our favorites? We both really enjoy the 2013 Chardonnay, and we also like the 2012 Haven. My personal favorite though is the 2013 Pinot Blanc. It has these delicious apricot and honey notes that are just amazing! My husband swears by the Brut Sparkling, and says it goes great with seafood (which I don’t eat). Anyway, it’s an amazing place to get married, or just to visit and spend an afternoon! Whatever you have planned, plan it here, and you will not regret it! It is a truly wonderful place. I recommend that this be the first vineyard you visit if you are into eco-friendly stuff, and if you are planning an eco-friendly wedding, this is a great venue! They will help you not only to put on a great event, but also to stick with your eco-friendly theme.
What a wonderful place this is. Me and my husband are both serious wine aficionados, which is how we originally discovered the vineyard. We did a lot of wine touring when we were dating, and we still do now. We have been to a handful of vineyards since we were married, and still nothing has beat this one for just being all-around amazing. It’s great to look back and know we made the right choice. First I want to talk for a moment about the vineyard itself. It’s not the oldest vineyard in the area; it’s only been around since 2000 or so. There are around 20 acres, and all of them are gorgeous. There aren’t just grapes growing here, but all kinds of other plants, including dandelions and asters and other beautiful flowers. So it’s a very colorful place. Sustainability is a big deal to Shinn Estate, and they do everything organically. When we first visited, we had so much fun learning about the vineyard! For wines, you have your picks of reds and whites, and no matter what you try, you’re going to love it. I personally recommend the Coalescence, which is a white wine. But again, anything you try, you’ll be impressed. First Fruit is also really good, and so is the Estate Merlot. The vineyard doubles as a bed and breakfast. We never stayed until we got married, but I can say it was a great experience, just like our wedding itself, and we are looking forward to doing it again somewhere down the line. Actually, we can’t wait! We may have to do it sooner rather than later. While I mostly want to talk about my wedding, I’d also recommend staying at the B&B to anyone, whether you’ve got an event going on or not! The brick house with the white porch is charming and so picturesque, and the rooms are very nicely appointed. There probably is not a more relaxing place anywhere on LI to spend a few lovely days away from the craziness of the city. Right, so our wedding. This is one of the few places I know of where you can have a small, intimate wedding. In fact, that’s the only kind they do here. If you have a big party, you can’t get married at Shinn Estate. They cap off the guest list at 40, which was just perfect for us. They also do rehearsal dinners. Barbara, the owner, and David, the chef, were both there to work with us on every detail. We were wild about the menu they put together for us and the delicious food! Not just because the choices were great and the recipes were delicious, but because the ingredients were all fresh, local and organic. I love a business that supports the community like that! It was great knowing that our Long Island wedding truly was a Long Island wedding. We have been back since our wedding to pick up wines, and visiting was a surreal experience. We’d spent so much time looking at our photographs and showing them off to people and re-watching our videos. Walking around on the grounds, we found ourselves reliving memories everywhere we looked, and it really brought a smile to my face.
